He demonstrates an understanding of the payments business from system conception, design, and development through to implementation at both the business and technology levels. He understands the importance of transactional messaging systems (interoperability), the need for integrity in a payment service and the requirement to authenticate and secure payment data.


Peter is comfortable working alongside and for senior management of large organisations such as retail and central banks. He has the experience of working on projects where the requirement is to satisfy the demands of multiple participants, including financial institutions, mobile operators, service providers etc.

Peter graduated from Victoria University (Wellington, New Zealand) with a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (Business Administration) in 1973, and then in 1981 undertook post-graduate studies at the Securities Institute of Australia and graduated in 1983 with a Securities Industry Diploma.

A particular strength is his ability to deal with people from all levels of an organisation. He has extensive experience managing project teams and also managing commercial relationships with a wide range of vendors and service providers. His roles have usually included managing all phases of the projects - defining scope and requirements, the RFP process and negotiation of contracts, the development and testing phases and then the implementation of the solution into production. In particular, Phil has long experience working in the Australian and international retail oil industry. He has worked on projects for Australian and international companies in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and China.

He Holds a BSc in Physics, Psychology at ANU, Masters Business Marketing at UNSW and post graduate studies at Harvard Business School on Building Competitive Advantage, Strategy and Managing Change.
